The Dortch family of companies began in the dry cleaning business in 1938 when Troy Dortch opened his first Troy Cleaners on Lewis Street in downtown Flint, Michigan. In 1980 his son, Lou Dortch, purchased the company and with the help of his son Lou Jr, went on to expand the business to 16 locations. Today Troy Cleaners is owned and operated by other members of the Dortch family.
In 1987 the father and son team decided to diversify and purchased their first Subway franchise which opened on Dort Highway in Flint. Over the next several years the team would grow aggressively and opened many locations within Genesee County, Michigan. Soon they ventured into Oakland County and by 1998 owned 30 stores.
Over the following years the Company expanded to several other counties in SE Michigan and today operates 69 locations and is the largest Subway franchisee in the state.
Dortch Enterprises prides itself on being a family run business who promotes from within. Our best asset is our people and our founder said it best, "We're not in the restaurant business, we're in the people business."
